USS Hobson DMS 26 was split in half after being struck by the bow of the USS Wasp CV 18. Both halves of Hobson sank within 4 minutes following impact. The collision happened during night time carrier operations. 176 sailors on the Hobson's crew went to the bottom with their ship. The Navy's investigation placed the blame for the collision on the Hobson's Commanding officer.

I'd never known about that disaster until you posted. Thanks. Wow - such a horrible tragedy, evidently due to human error. A friend of mine served on the Wasp until 1950.
