I had to customize the bracket some to get the correct fan belt tension but I just started her up and, well, she started which is a good first step.

It was pretty amazing to see how much brighter her headlights and dash lights were. Yea!

You can now turn on the heater fan AND the lights and they both work on high!

its a Apline system with a 1600 watt amp, 2-5.5" in the kidney pads and 6x9's behind the seat.

I cant help it I was born in 1960 with an older brother & sister into real rock!

They do make for a nice background at shows, but I have yet to use mine while driving. But I DO NOT have what Bill has to blast with either!

Tom-
Which Bosch alternator did you use? Part number and or vendor where you got it.
I will be looking to upgrade mine from the stock Lucas. By the way, was it "plug and play" or did you have to modify any of the wiring?
Thanks for the info.

An alternator is an electromechanical device that converts mechanical energy to alternating current electrical energy. Most alternators use a rotating magnetic field but linear alternators are occasionally used. In principle, any AC electrical generator can be called an alternator, but usually the word refers to small rotating machines driven by automotive and other internal combustion engines. In UK, large alternators in power stations which are driven by steam turbines are called turbo-alternators.

These two big pipes under the bumper are the only sound system I need in my TR6. Those thar loudspeakers make beautiful music with superb soundstaging and range.

Worth noting perhaps, that automotive alternators generate relatively high frequency 3-phase AC, which is then rectified into DC by solid-state diodes contained within the unit. They offer a number of advantages over the DC generators used on earlier Triumphs, including higher output, smaller size, lighter weight and higher efficiency. Pretty much all electrical power generation is done by alternator these days; although solar cell usage is growing.

Here's a video of some cool old alternators (and the engines that turn them) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHvUTv9AwxA
The one on the right used to power the city of Avalon on Catalina Island.

Sometimes I just listen to my monzas, but on a long ride they give me a headache.

I either need to get a quieter exhaust system or a louder stereo

How do you house the rear speakers? I a box? Sitting on floor? Just curious as I would like to upgrade mine. Currently just 2x6'' in the kick panels (TR6). I know thats not correct but the PO did this.

Bill,

How are they with the hard top on? The Monza's that is?

I don't like the Monza "drone' either and the Monza's are louder that the Twin Sport system. The Twin Sport system settles into a nice mellow tone when cruising too.
