"OMG! This thing is frieaken fast!"

Looks very cool....Best color for that car is the black. Those wheels have to go thou, but I am not crazy about the original ones either...to 'disc' looking.

Yes I'm thinking the Gottis got’ta go too. Not a huge fan of the 5-hole telephone dial type but I could live with a set of 5-spoke Cup wheels that where offered on the 928. Otherwise I saw a set of later 911 “Turbo” style wheels on a Shark that looked pretty nice too.

Another concern is the Gottis have a different offsets front & rear. So I’m thinking that whatever I do I should go with a set with the same off set and get some spacers so I can rotate the tires.

Like these maybe....

Those are much better.....Chrome maybe? I know, maybe a bit gotti too if they where chrome. But I love the look of chrome wheels on a dark car, as long as they're not huge bling wheels.

Yep - I like those much better...

Naw, no chrome for me. This car has a pretty serious “beast” persona that I’d really like to keep intact. So I think the a nice set of alloys brushed or polished would fit with it’s “ground ponder take no prisoners” character.

47 posts about a Porsche on an LBC web site - guess we all like Teutonic toys...long race - 500 miles interstate? your German against mine? hehehehe

Hmmm? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif Your ME-109 vs. My FW-190. Not saying I'd agree but it'd be pretty interesting to say the least. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

But seriously if I recall correctly I think both have made the Cannon Ball Run. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Yep, both did make it...don't remember the outcome...but the only to test them is long distance as we're built entirely differently...you're quick off the line & good in twists; I'm built to hunker down & fly for about 350 miles before I need fuel....think you'll have to stop at least once before me....both our speedometers say 160mph & I personally know mine will hit 140...

hehehe Actually my son always makes a comment about cool it is to be in a car that has a Speedo that says 170MPH.

While I might indeed have to stop for fuel more often than you – it’d be a mistake to say that a 928 doesn’t have long legs. Yes they are quick off the line and good road carvers, but they are after-all true GTs. Designed with that intent from the start and minimize driver fatigue on long drives.

Yep, same with my SL - they don't call it the German Vette for no reason...Huntsville to the Gulf Coast on one hop & I get out feeling completely relaxed.

And true GT's tend to have large fuel tanks, not just because of poor mileage. I've seen my step dads 928 cover close to 350 miles when it consisted of mainly highway driving. I even found it more comfortable cruising than my mom's 450SL (109).

I did however, enjoy doing some low speed flying through western Nebraska in the wee hours of the morning in my moms 300SD (Turbo Diesel S-class Benz). Five cylinder turbo diesel cruising at 120mph with my parents sleeping in back. Mercedes Benz sedans ROCK for cross country travel. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just too bad we're on opposite corners! They're probably pretty evenly matched as GT's!

I guess I can consider my LTD a GT then? Big tank - will do 120 maybe - maybe not, and comfortable on a long drive. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Hey, Kenny...sure you can...hehehehehe
But I think you're classed more as a Tourer!

At one time I thought about a 560SL - much bigger engine in same body as my 380SL...but the 380SL kinda grew on me - much like the Black Shark!

I don't think your thinking of 'Grand' in the right way Kenny. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

hehehehe Ok, GMT /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Congrats Bret! The 928 is an awesome car. I drove one on the Autobahn in Germany and WOW! I almost bought it but it was not US specs and I determined it would have been too much of a hassel to bring it into DOT code. I finally ended up getting the 928's little brother, a 944. Not super fast, but still a very nice and fun car to drive (and talk about well built!)

Congrats again! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
