Olympians Robbed in Rio!

Hard to believe how many Olympians, coaches, news people and others are being robbed at gun point. Three of our swimmers, one gold medalist were robbed by thieves posing as police officers. Great place huh! Looks like a garbage pit outside of the Olympic area. How do cities like this get to host the Olympic games? Disgusting. PJ

Pretty much the selection process and the IOC is as honest, transparent and has as much integrity as any one of the thieves in the above story. Not sure it is making Brazil look any more desirable - and judging by the empty seats not a lot coming even for the olympics.

Still a second-world country. Sad that they couldn't beef up security any more.

[EDIT - see below. Poor Brazil can't catch a break.]

It was suggested by one source last night that it was their own fault for going "off campus" to the French team house for a party and coming back late.

And speaking of the Olympics and water, have you seen the green color of some of the pools, they have admitted it is algae due to incorrect chemical usage.

[I understand they were returning back to the village at 3AM. Probably not wise in Rio.]

That algal bloom in the pools was hilarious. Especially when their first reaction was "oh, this is OK."

Yea, everyone knew Rio couldn't clean up but Ya'd think it might have crossed somebody's mind to drain the pool.

I think they eventually did do just that.

Oh oh... might be one of those tangled webs that was woven. Drinking gringos out on the town?
Was reading that it now might haven been a drunken altercation at a gas-station.

Two of them have admitted to the gas-station thing (and as your websites reveal, they definitely were at that gas-station).

Poor Brazil feels beaten up in the press and probably feels violated by what they see as wealthy or privileged American athletes. I suppose we'll see soon.

Why did they concoct the story?

Proves you shouldn't believe every thing you hear and furthermore you shouldn't bad mouth a country before you have all the facts.

I don't know how many members the BCF has from Brazil but I would like to thank them for putting on a fine show. Maybe Basil knows.

I think they were drunk.
And I think it will cost them LOTS of endorsement money for future earnings. Just stupid.

When I was a Commander at a remote site overseas I had to deal out the occasional Article 15 to some Otherwise upstanding Airman who got drunk and did something stupid down town.
