Just figured out how to get these off my phone. Bronte was last September and is the largest British Show in the country. This just a few of the Spridgets.

Nice!

Funky looking front license plate thing on that blue Frog.

That "Funky looking front license plate thing on that blue Frog." is a stock Plemum as it came from the factory when a front bumper was not installed.

Yea Plinth, senior moment.

We have two BEs (owned since 72) both of which I presume were imported into Canada (the Senior Colony), and neither have front bumpers.
I've heard that a front bumper was not standard, but an option here, but neither car has a plinth and there's no obvious signs of one. Back in the day (when front plates were required in Alberta) I think I just had it wired on.
Any comments regards front plate mounting, plinths, and front bumpers on BEs sold in Canada?
Thanks,
Doug

John-Peter: I just looked up the Bronte web-site, but there didn't appear to be any photos associated with it. Can you advise if there's shots from last year, somewhere on the web (other than your be-spoke ones)?
Thanks,
DOug

Doug,

Not being a Canadian resident I can't comment on front mounting plates, plinths, and bumpers, however, every unmolested bugeye I have seen have had the four holes for the plinth as stock. Many 'restored' bugeye's have these unused holes filled in when restored as the D(P)O's don't know what they were for.

The holes actually have screws and nuts in them. Miss Agatha had hers removed, hehe.

Never seen an original "plinth". Sure seems like overkill when a couple of formed straps would have done the job. That looks as if it would stand up to whacking a coon! I'm lazy and could look it up but where is the "Bronte"? Seem's like it could be a destination in ones wandering.
Tnx, Kurt.

There are a number of pictures from last year's event here:

It really is a great show with over 1,000 British cars of all sorts.

Bronte is Bronte Provincial Park, just west (25 minutes) of Toronto. The event is actually British Car Day hosted by the Toronto Triumph Club. It is the third Sunday of September.

It is the big one in this part of the world.

If you go on flickr and search bronte and british you will get some idea of the variety of vehicles there.

Think they are available from VB, anyway I have seen em someplace.

Yep, we talking about plinths.
