Old Movies

I've seen North by Northwest many times, maybe because we have been in that restaurant a few times over the years, really like that one. :thumbsup2:

If you like wild horses, here's a nice movie filmed in Australia. Kirk Douglas, a ranch owner plays 2 roles as brothers, but most of the cast is from Australia. I like it, seen it 3 times, but I'm a horse lover, others might have a different opinion. PJ

Paul - speaking of Kirk Douglas ... check out "Lonely are the Brave". A loner and his horse confront modern day cities, morality, law enforcement, and highway traffic. Great cast, relationships, and action. The last scene is pretty profound.

Thanks, Tom, I like the cast. Sounds like a good movie! :thumbsup2:

John Wayne seemed to be John Wayne in an Army uniform, cowboy outfit, police uniform, business suit. Just John Wayne. I mean that is neccesarily a bad thing.

Regrading African Queen - I wonder if the Disney movie about the boat in the Amazon was an attempt to remake African Queen.

Where Eagles Dare, saw that movie many times, and really like it! My wife thinks I'm crazy about war movies and maybe she's right! Even though Hollywood changes some stuff in them to make them more exciting to the general public, a lot of truth comes out in some of them, but we won't go into that.

Paul - have you seen "Paths of Glory"? Kirk Douglas (Again!), Adolphe Menjou. A soldier discovers his commanding officer(s) are "in it for their own glory", whatever the human cost.

A real eye opener.

Yes, I've seen it a couple of times Tom, shows how war can bring out the best or worst in men. Excellent film and Douglas really shows how great an actor he is in it!

You're up early today! Did you catch the "Strawberry Moon" early this morning (and yesterday)?

Hollywood. I'm sure such men exist/(ed), but prefer to think (just my opinion) they are the exception rather than the rule.
Not sure if you watched the series Foyle's war - but this was a theme - in the midst of noble individuals, well worth the watch.

Kellys Heros! If anyone out there hasn't seen it, they must be living under a rock! And Southerland with his comments made the whole movie comical! :jester:
