I check eBay every once in awhile,but noticed that the price of old plastic models has skyrocketed!Since I have the shelf of one of our closets filled with old unbuilt ('60's & '70's) kits,I think that maybeit's time to sell them off.Since I paid $1.24 - $2.50 for them,how could I go wrong. What would you do,if you were in my shoes? - Doug
 
If there's no personal attachment - SELL!

Might even be interested myself. Any aircraft?
 
Just do your research first. Some are very rare and command serious dollars. Others have been reissued every few years and usually are worth that much, although the initial release can sometimes be.
 
I could be rich! but all mine are built-ups. Models were my thing when I was young. Went to several shows, and got a few trophies. I've got an insane collection, but almost none still in the box. I do have most of the boxes, full of parts for customs
 
Mine are all unbuilt,& almost all are original issue kits.

I would be interested, not because i am interested in acquiring them - frankly I need another project like I need a hole in the head. (And Mrs JP would arrange the hole if I started another project :grin:smile: however, i would love to see a thread of people's models (and likewise model trains) IIRC someone posted their model race car track awhile back and it was awesome! Bring them on!

I dunno Doug. I guess I wasn't thinking about them. They are all hidden down in the basement with the train layout. I'll see about getting some pics and posting some of what I have. A lot of it is packed up.

I would imagine with as many "things" he has going on it would be like Disney, no way to see it all the first time.
 
I still have a number of my assembled models. If you wanted to "disassemble" them, you can soak them in bleach. I recently built a Grumman Avenger model and then painted it up to match the markings of the one I have worked on. It's on display at the hangar in Fawn Grove. I discovered that my modeling skills were no better than they were when I was 14 years old. I have a second Avenger model that I'm going to build up for myself with the same markings, I just haven't had the time to get around to it.
 
My eldest son built a model of my old Stearman with a 20 inch wing span and it came out beautiful. I believe he still has it.

Yes you do and I flew it from the right seat. It belonged to Philco Radio Corp. Flying electronic test bed if I remember correctly. It was in the agreement that it would be flown at least once a month for performance checks. The chief pilot and I would take her up for at least an an hour each month. Only aircraft I've ever been in where you needed ear plugs under the head set! The prop tips would drive you crazy. And people wonder why 25 jockeys had bad hearing. :rolleyes: PJ

I forgot to add that it was not changed much from military version. Side gun ports were removed and windows were installed. The cockpit was strictly military. Even though it had the military radios, it had a couple civilian radios and nav gear installed. Believe it or not, even though they have a clumsy look, she was a sweetheart to fly. I totally respect and thank the fellas that flew them in the war. Even though they were bombers, I compare 25 pilots to fighter pilots, because they flew them like fighters at times! Great men in a great airplane. I feel privileged and honored just to set in the seat of one, let alone fly it. PJ
 
Tom, This is why I called them fighter bombers! Not many light bombers had this set up. 4-50s and a 75 in the nose, plus everywhere else.

 
I collected Jaguar kits over a 30 yr. span. Now, either I race, fish, camp, travel or assemble or sell.
 
I've got a wall of them myself. Mostly British, or of 1:1 cars I've owned in the past.

WOW. Some of those kits really bring back memories!!! I had a '70 Thunderbird model from the same company that made the '69 Grand Prix one...I remember that one on the shelf when I picked the model.
 
I had the Custom pumper, I think the '69 Barracuda and possibly the 32 Ford Roadster
