It is apparently in Roanoke, VA....I imagine in the early 60s. Looks like the drag strip goes up hill at the end. Weird.

Anyway, some cool old shots including this (#55 is neat too):

Also Hubert Platt. As a young bride in the early 60's, my sister lived in the same apt. complex with the Platts.
 
Worked at the Connnecticut Drag strip in 66 and 67 and any time a YOUR O PEAN car drag raced, especially something really small, like a minor or VW, it was subject redicule by the announcer.. something ususally about clowns...
