Hi all,

I just found these forums and they are great. Its nice to see British car enthusiasts are using technology to share information.

I own a 1959 AH Sprite MK 1. I bought it in the Fall of 1989 and really never drove it enough.

Spring seems to be sprouting and I am now debating whether I should revive my old love or pass it on to another worthy enthusiast.

Ron, firstly welcome to the forum!

Now, to throw my (not inconsiderable) weight into your debate. Keep your Sprite, drive it, enjoy it! There are many fellow enthusiasts on here who will help you to bring it back into driving condition if needed, or to nag and encourage you to use the car.......

You'll enjoy it on here!

Howdy Ron,

"Welcome" to "THEE" best LBC site you`ll probably ever come across but "You already know that"!

Your "Frog/Bugeye" looks almost identical to the `59 I just sold this past Dec. to begin a `57TR3 Small Mouth restoration (Its getting there).

Personally; I wish I could have kept the B/E but the funds from the sale are all going into the TR.

I`d keep her, Tinker with her & Drive her. Yours looks pretty "Stock" & They bring the biggest $$$ if you should decide to part with her.

Introduce Yourself & Your B/E to the folks on the Spridget Forum & post away Your feelings.

Best Wishes,

Russ

:savewave:Welcome to the Forum!! Keep it! :yesnod: Drive it! :yesnod:
Sell it.. :nonod: :nonod: :nonod:

Welcome:

If you can still fit into it and do not need the funds, drive it like you stole it.

Lol, thanks for support everyone.

I guess I owned it nearly 21 years now. It is pretty stock. I bought it off a guy who claims it was a barn find and did very extensive bodywork on it. The odometer say 60,000 miles and I believe it.

Some strange things on the car. It has a single 1 1/2 SU carb... I guess one of the original owners lost patience tuning the dual 1 1/4s. Also, the rocker panels have two jack slots. I think maybe they used the wrong replacement part when restoring the body... or they fabbed a piece incorrectly.

I ebayed the car about 10 years ago with a high reserve and lost my nerve to let it go.

But many of the ebay inquiries were about whether I have a ribbed gearcase. I never really checked. Whats the deal with the gearcases in these cars?

The ribbed gearbox was fitted to later models of the inline-layout Austins and derivatives; it's rumoured to be significantly harder-wearing than the earlier type. That's why people were asking, this is the gearbox to have. My Austin, being 1966, has one.

Hi & welcome, Bugs are nice, where I live there are 3, one use to be running a Turbo, but is now restored back to original, some people also use to make bootlids for them, but most of these cars are also reversed back to original.
Have a photograph I took on the freeway in Californien, of a White Frogeye race car, with a roll cage, it was on a trailer, anyone inhere know who it could have been? picture was taken 2005.

Welcome Ron...
Go drive that car...

So does the title mean you're old and own a bugeye, or you own an old bugeye? Either way, welcome aboard!
