Old 35 MM Cameras

JP SMit
As a matter of fact I think I do have an old Olympus Pen at home, but don't recall the exact model. It was a gift from my brother when he was in the Marines in the early 1970s and stationed on Okinawa. I remember it was a real pain in the butt to get prints. ISTR I had to get a photocell or something repaired once. I will look for it when I get a chance. I am going to visit my new grandson tonight and will be out of pocket until Monday night.

That would be amazing - thanks! And, more to the point blessings on a new grandson!

OK, I thought one of you photogs out there was going to tell me something good! Like I can plug in a converter to make them digital! I knew that wouldn't happen, but you know, wishful thinking. :sorrow: PJ

How hard would that be? Years ago, when my son brought home the cassette tape adapter to play his MP3 through our existing car stereo, I thought yeah right like this is going to work. Same principle, one of you geeky guys just needs to make a light conversion cartridge to sit in/across where the film goes.........Waiting. I have a 1967 Miranda camera used for taking extreme close-up photogs........Still waiting.

Well....You could buy one of the new Sony NEX series cameras AND a third party adapter. That would allow you to use your old SLR lenses. Probably not practical unless you have a pile of one brand of lenses you really want to use. Does that make you feel better?

Miranda G?!?! I have about every lens and accessory Miranda ever branded!! Three or four bodies lyin' about, too.

EDIT: jsfbond! Sign up in the photo group Basil started!

I have several Minolta SRT bodies and assortment of lenses etc. collecting dust as well.A fair amount of money invested there but hundreds of pics over the years.I own several digital cameras but find the the picture quality lacking.Istill break out the SLR occasionally and shoot a roll of film and enjoy the depth and tone of the prints. Idon't understand why someone hasn't developed the insert mentioned earlier it seems simple enought to make but I guess the companies marketing the digitals want us to keep buying the latest model of the moment

The up-side is that those of us that still use them from time to time can get our toys a lot cheaper than in the good old days....

If it were only true.....:encouragement:

Deb and I still have a Canon AE-1 with lots of lenses and accessories. My favorite camera ever was an Asahi Pentax Spotmatic that I picked up while studying judo in Tokyo back in 1969. I'd still like to skin the jerk that stole it back in 1980.
