soren,im not sure what might be the value of a healey in your country,this one though without close inspection looks very nice,perhaps no one here right now is desireous of the model,you must reolise 90% "or there abouts" of healeys ever made were brought to this country u.s.d.a. that means we have more heads of healeys then any other country,so we can be a little more picky,we also (god bless those stout men and women) have people that take a totaly rusted hulk minus most of the parts and turn them into masterpieces,not me im to darn lazy,look ya got any vacation time comeing up? in my guestimation in the tristate area of (n.y.,ct,n.j.) youll be able to find a great number of healeys to buy, anything you want, ground up restos,to banged up x racers ,to rusted out hulks,what ever meets your fancy,its hard to rely on someone elses judgement on most anything let alone a healey,come here spend three days and ill guaranty on the flight home youll be scratching your head saying to yourself "what the heck did i just do?) im gettin a little tired of lookin at ebay for ya! dont forget we got the central states as well and the "wrong coast" as well,-hi keoke! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif

I didn't look too closely, but several questionable items are obvious.

The sale will be for local pick up only, no shipping. This rather limits the number of likely buyers.

The car has been "converted" from 2 seat to 4 seat. It is unknown how well or how complete the conversion is. Most folks would not want to get involved in such non-standard modifications. Much of a Healey's value revolves around originality.

Although some Healeys were equipped with disc wheels, most buyers prefer spoked wheels.

Related to the 2 to 4 seat conversion, it's not clear just what may be involved in getting a top to properly fit. This depends on how the modification was done.

Much of the wording implies that mechanical condition is largely unknown or possibly below optimum.

Wouldn't touch this one for half the current money. From someone who was planning on doing a four to two seat conversion until I came up with a 2 seat chassis, it is not that hard to do but you need to replace the rear shroud scuttle and put the deck in where the rear seats were. The battery must then be moved. None of this was done on this car. It looks nice but would be hard to resell.
 
I agree. Stay away from it.
 
Why, He needs a four place car this car is clean there are people in Texas that can look at it for him and the BN6 is the only true 100-6 Made. interesting...I suppose it would be worth having someone local to the area check it out for you. I can't figue out why someone would want to convert a 2-seater BN6 to a BN4? All the value guides place a premium on the 2-seater. Makes me suspicious...maybe there was severe rear-end damage?...maybe it's really a BN4? Oh, and if you decide to travel west in search of a worthy Healey, you might want to allow more than a couple of days for your search. Good luck.
 
The car looks like a 2-seater. there's carpeting rather than the seats on the rear "shelf" and there isn't room between the rear shroud and the front seat backs. The frame for the top looks like it would fit, but the top hasn't been put on it and that looks suspicious- like things don't really line up as they should....

I'm a little bothered too about all the really trivial things menioned... wood for the seat tracks and WOODRUFF keys while the really siginificant stuff is left unsaid....

Could it be that the old body was fit to a new, but incorrect chassis.
 
What exactly is the conversion to a four seat supposed to mean? That car still has the BN6 rear shroud. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If by frame we mean chassis = aren't the BN4 & BN6 chassis the same?
 
For what’s it’s worth, when I saw this auction the "conversion" turned me off. You're already stepping on a treadmill of maintenance and replacement, why get into something unknown...
 
Soren - According to the VIN #BN6L, this should a two seater, and it is, it has the rear shroud. But the problem starts with the 4 seater jump seat setup - as a result the top bows may not have the correct fittings and location to fit and erect properly. You must have someone locally try and see how that top can be installed properly.
In its youth, it probably had a rear end hit, the rear was cut off, the 4 seater chassis installed with a new 2 seater shroud placed over top.
