Well it is now officially hot in SW OK, last two days have been over 110, today and tomorrow are supposed to be over 110 too. Happily Sunday is supposed to bring a cold front and a chance of rain, so the highs are only supposed to be around 100 to 105 next week.

Saw on the weather channel this morning, the 7 day forecast actually had 3 days under 100. Wednesday we hit 112 and missed the all time high record for OKC by 1 degree, set in 1936. I suppose our friends in Phoenix are snickering at us just a bit though.

i don't believe i can ever remember a summer that has been this warm, even up here in Vermont.

News said 113 today in O.K...which aint o.k...

Gotta sink hole in my street in front the house. I've never seen one in person my whole life.

Wow a sinkhole, I've never seen one either. Around here all we get are large cracks in the yard.

Walter, Got up at 5 this morning and it cooled down to 85 degrees! Almost put on a jacket! :jester: 110 for a couple days and one day it hit 112. Triple digits here for a couple weeks now and not much relief in sight. The heat and drought knocked the heck out of the second cutting for hay, it's all burnt up! My 3 acre pond, which is underground spring fed has dropped 3 1/2 feet! Most run off ponds have dried up and animals have to be watered from tanks. We need rain bad! PJ

Meanwhile... our Sam's Club has a shipment of heaters on display. It's never too early to think about the upcoming frigid winter that will soon be here, in Florida, maybe in January, for a few nights - maybe.

We got all four days of it last year.

Cookin up here in NY too. well into the 90s today, and MUGGY! I've been out doing yard work cause friends are coming over a cookout later. I'm drenched!

I can sympathize, just hacked all th' growth to a uniform height here at th' hovel. Did th' neighbor's too... mower lit right off.
dammit. :frown:

Heheheh.... I pulled the '69 Lawn Boy out today. Been in storage since last fall. Fired on the first pull.
Key point. tank and carb were dry. poured fresh gas-mix in today.
the regular mower here is a 71 John Deere with a Tecumseh motor. That's a fires-on-the-first-pull mower too.
Off to the market for goodies now. Burger, dogs, beer... C'mon over!
Gonna do old-time campfire popcorn later. None of that Jiffy-pop stuff....

The rest of the country is just learning what it's like to live in Phoenix.

I have some plaster work to do outside. I'm waiting until midnight to do it. It should be hopefully cool enough then for the stuff to not cure on the trowel.

It is such a nice day today the temp is just over 100, and there is a nice breeze. It feels great, played outside this morning with my daughter, she just had her 3rd birthday party yesterday and just had to play with her new electric princess car. I hope all week stays this nice.

I cut all three sprigs of weeds/grass on ~my~ plot, cut the neighbor's grass out of courtesy. They're on vacay.

Unfortunately, Tecumseh doesn't seem to be making engines any more - at least lawn mowers.

Only internal combustion doo-hickey that thrives on neglect!

Unlike our beloved LBC's.

I remember years ago hearing a preacher talking about how hard it is to preach about heck in Arizona. He said for 1/3 of the year it's too nice for anyone to care and for 2/3 of the year it's too hot for anyone to be impressed.
