OK lawn mower care.

Last time I mowed the lawn, the mower quit at the end of the job. It was not out of gas but had worked on the gas in the tank.

Today, would not start. Which is to say, you prime it, it roars to life and stops almost instantly

1. added fresh gas (ethanol free)

2. added gas line additive

3. pulled air filter - no difference (not clogged)

4. checked plug - wet but OK, cleaned and reinstalled.

5. Pulled top of carb - squirted in engine start - roared to life but died immediately.

6. pulled carb and cleaned.

7. float works (didn't check to see if fuel in float though I shook it and didn't hear anything slosh.

8. Priming bulb doesn't seem to suck but I don't know whether this would continue to be an issue.

thoughts?

Check/clear the tiny orifi in the carb body, clean the holes at the bottom of the jet. Float bowl "plug" holding the bowl in place? It has some small holes in it too.

You've got ethanol gunk buildup, certes. Greenish crud buildup, looks like bread mould. Most aerosol carb cleaners don't touch it. Gotta auger 'em out mechanically with stiff, thin wire.

Sounds like the main jet is blocked. take the carb back off and used some compressed air to blow it out real good. Also use the wire like Doc said.
Brake parts cleaner seems to help some.
