Not a bad example and this is one car where the mechanical stuff can def rival the body work bill.

Agreed, a rebuild is probably 15K+, but supposedly they are pretty robust if maintained.

That was my point. We usually don't worry about the mech as much as the bodywork. I'd rather have one like this as a proj, anyone can do bodywork if the parts are there.
I had my 3500 rebuilt in Italy when I was stationed there and it was spendy then too for a GI (1977) but the alloy body and interior was perfect. Such a lovely car to drive in a country that had no Autostrada speed limits.
FYI I picked it up on the base 'lemon lot' for $2500. It was my only trans for 5 years there and in the States lol.

Cool!

I was looking up part prices for the 3500 and found this...

Distributor Caps: $850 ....ok, now I remember why I parted with it! 6 banger with dual ignition 12 pt cap. Same as the Sebring btw

a tune up at a shop is about $1800 to $2000...think Ferrari prices.

I guess because we are Triumph guys that like discussing cars.

Yeah, I think so. Hope so anyway. I've gotten pings from several people that they like seeing interesting cars as part of the Triumph community here.

If this is bugging people I'll stop.

- Doug

Besides, the Maserati Sebring is a Vignale design. The TR4's were a Michelotti design, and Michelotti worked for Vignale at one time, so they are kinda related, maybe.

What is this - "Six Degrees of Separation?" :jester:

I enjoyed the thread because it brought to mind an old love, that Maser was sweet, I was 25 and lived in Italy!
No, keep at it.
