Oiling the starter

Country flag
Offline
I know that the starter has a brass bush that gets soaked in oil for 24 hours when rebuilding but I was reading a tech section of an old (1993 I think)Healey Magazine and it said to be sure and oil the generator and the starter motor as part of the yearly service.I've always tone the generator but where and how do you oil the starter motor. I could not find it in the manuals I have.

Remove the starter and at the end of the bush is a felt like material remove it and pack the area with grease replace the felt like material and reassemble. You can add grease to the bearing too while you are at it. But be sure and wait until it warms up abit OK!!!--Fwiw--Keoke--
