Oil Treatment

Hi Guys

Has anyone any experience of using an engine treatment such as FAHER in their cars?
I was at the Goodwood Festival of Speed over the weekend and there was a guy on a stand demonstrating this stuff. Very impressive, but I am always a bit sceptical about these things, like, why don't the oil manufacturers use it in there products straightaway etc.

Save your $ mate good oil does not need add ons.

I agree with Keoke, additives are never good, I learned the hard way when I added Rislone to my engine oil. The Ford 260 gave up the ghost shortly thereafter.

Thanks for the replies, I did not put a similar additive in when I saw it several years ago, and I will not be putting this one in now.

'Snake Oil' has been making shysters rich for a couple hundred (thousand?) years. I've taken the bait a couple times--Slick 50 anybody?--but now just use a good oil with sufficient ZDDP (yeah, I know, it's getting harder to find, but I think VR1 still makes the grade). OTOH, if you're worried and not sure if your oil has enough, a ZDDP additive probably doesn't hurt (but don't overdo it).

Most racing oil wil meet the requirements.
