oil separator question

I have a 1973 mg midget with a webber carberattor. My problem is that the oil seperator is leaking all over the engine and into my carberattor causing my car to stop while i am driving it. Are there any solutions beside replacing it?
 
OK I'll take a stab at this. It seems the oil seperator is connected to carburetors through a breather control valve. If that is not working then you would have a problem. I, also, remember on early American cars that the separator is filled with steel wool. I have not looked in the shop to see what a Midget has in it but you may need to cleand out the sepatator so it will function correctly. Look to see if there is a controll valve first and then if it is operating correctly. There are excellent digrams and photos in several of my manuals under emission controls.
 
Supered, being in Oklahoma, Take you emmissions off. I've got a Weber on my 70' and no emmissions whatsoever. Where are you? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif
 
I'm assuming your car didn't come with a Weber origonally, Therefore you wouldn't have any emissions connected to it unless a PO did something to it. I don't believe there is much difference between our cars (mechanically). All emissions have been removed from mine. Just thought you might do the same.
