I now have the engine in the 250. Still need to get the radiator and interior done. I wanted to get the oil pressure up. No spark plugs, in how long should it take to get pressure using the starter motor?

Dan,
Have you primed the pump or packed it with grease or Vaseline? If everything is coated with a generous dose of assembly lube you should be able to crank away...say no more than a minute at a time.

I removed the dist drive gear and made a tool out of 3/8 all thread rod and spun my drill counter clock wise for a few seconds and the pump primed and oil is now flowing..... next time i will pack it with assembly lube. thanks Rut.

Dan,
I put my engine in about two weeks ago. I had filled the oil pump up with STP back last fall. Intalled new high torque starter, spun the engine over for less than a minute, got 75+ lbs of oil pressure real quick. Finishing up a SU carb conversion now. Hope to crank this week.
