Oil Pump for 100-4

Why is there such a big cost range for new oil pumps for a 100-4. Denis Welch is about $300, ebay is about $400, Moss is about $700, Victoria is $600 (all these without the drive spindle). Anyone know why the range of prices? Anyone have experience just getting new gears? Any thoughts on which pump to buy? I'm leaning toward the Denis Welch pump. What else do I need to know?

Thanks, August

I got just the new gears and then did some work slowly sanding the pump body down on the end to get a good end gap, the result was healthy oil pressure so apparently it worked. I think there is some information in the factory manual about this, but basically take some fine sandpaper and sand the pump body end a little bit on a flat surface to take out any excessive end play, this in an of itself can help the pumps efficiency, and combined with new gears you can get something that is as likely as good (or maybe better depending on the design tolerances of the new pump made in XXXXXXX) as a new pump.

You can find the best pricing here https://www.bpnorthwest.com/.sc/ms/sch/ee?search=oil+pump+AH&go.x=11&go.y=11

for pumps or gears. I've not gotten mine yet, but I've only heard good things and they are a sponsor BCF.
