oil pressure

I fired up the engine out of my TR8 parts car and I'm not seeing oil pressure on the mechanical gauge and the oil indicator lamp stays lit. So I only run it for about 30 seconds. I had to use an adapter and" T "fitting when I installed the mechanical gauge. I see oil on top of the head when I take the rocker cover off.

Also, maybe related / maybe not, I have to let it sit for a couple hours after starting. Turns over, but won't start. Runs great when running. Kind of loud with only headers on it in a small shop.

Hmmm - zero oil pressure? None?

Seems unlikely that both the mechanical gauge and warning light would both be off.

Have you pulled the oil pan to see what shape the oil pick up and pump are in?

well I haven't done that yet, but I see oil pooling on the top of the head. I think I'll try taking out the distributor and spinning the oil pump drive with an air drill and see what happens with the oil pressure gauge.

I had trouble finding a oil pump drive to prime the oil pump. But I found that my 12mm deep socket fit fairly well and used it and an electric drill motor to prime the oil system.

so you installed an after market mechanical gauge and it shows no pressure? intersting... I have a TR 6 and after refinishing my dash and reinstalling the gauges, my oil pressure would only come up to 25 psi, purchased a gauge and it read 65 psi, I blew the original gauge out with air put it back in and 65 psi....
