TR2/3/3A Oil Pressure low all of a sudden

My oil pressure gauge is reading very low all of a sudden. I recently replaced the rod bearings. I noticed the change when I had a mechanic come by and try and set my carbs. We were revving the Roma quite a bit and didn't notice it until about 1/2 done with the carbs. It will climb to about 50 at 2600 RPM, but at 750 RPM it drops to maybe 10!? Where should I start??

Does the motor oil on the dip stick smell like gasoline ?

Did you do anything with the distributor ?

Cheers
Tush

Motor oil does not smell.

I did move the distributor one tooth as it was off. I was finally able to set the timing correctly.

Well I fixed it. But take a look at the can of worms I opened. I found this little piece of aluminum (non magnetic) in the Pressure Relief Valve. IMG_9982.jpgIMG_9983.jpgIMG_9980.jpg

IMG_9991.jpgIt's hard to take a picture of this little guy. This is the best I could come up with.

It does look like half of something.

Like taking a bite from an apple and finding half a worm inside.

I do not recognize it.

It's a little small for a plug from rocker shaft. It's the size of the top of a pen, maybe a tad bigger.

Whatever it is it looks too big to pass through the oil pickup, let alone the oil pump itself.

I'm thinking it's something from the distributor. What could it be?! Is there more? Luckily it's aluminum and soft.
