General Tech Oil Pressure Gauge

My oil pressure is good, about 65 to 70 psi while driving, and sometimes will hover around 60. When cold at start-up time, my oil pressure reading is as high as 80 psi.

But none of this is my issue. My issue is that the needle indicator in my gauge bounces all the time. I can tell the reading, but the bouncing bothers me, and I'm sure it's not good for the health of the gauge.

Why would the needle in the gauge be bouncing? Is the problem more likely my gauge or the line from the oil filter housing? I've checked that line a few times, and the copper washers seem to be doing their job.

Any thoughts?

All I can say is the TR oil gage is a direct reading gage...meaning that if it is bouncing, then your oil pressure is actually bouncing. I can only guess why. Perhaps a bad spot on one of the pump gear teeth?? In any event, I personally would not worry about it. Add it to the many TR quirks!?!

I must confess that about a year ago I did mess a bit with that oil pressure adjusting fitting in the oil filter housing. But I returned it to the position it had already been in, as best I could. And as best I recall.
