Oil pressure gauge -on 1978 Mg midget 1500

How do you install a oil presure gauge on a midget without one. What parts do I need, is it best installed under the dash? I see a large brass bolt on the top of the oil filter housing-is that where it starts? thanks Jim
 
i bought an after market gauge, on a whim at the local auto parts one day. It came with all the stuff needed to install it. I was kinda surprised it fit with having to find any special adapters. it hooks to the hole in the pic referenced above. just unscrew the warning lite sensor and hook your gage to the same port.

I put a dual gauge in my '78. I replaced the single temperature gauge in the dash. I removed the sending unit from the block, inserted a "T" and then redid the connections. I now have a working gauge and a warning light.
 
Warning light with PSI gague is only way to go. How many people really look at oil PSI all the time? None. Warning light jumps out at you much clearer when needed. However, warning light (idiot light) doesn't predict anything. Nice to know if PSI is actually dropping below 20 when hot at a red light.

I watch the oil pressure till I am convenced that all is ok. Just scares the heck out of me to loose pressure.
