Friend of mine let me drive his 69 B after a 3 year restoration on the body. (We just measured the clearance on the mains and rod bearings and closed the engine up and painted it) Oil pressure at 45 mph was about 90-95 pounds .That seems high to me. Are the gauges acurate?
Any concerns like seal blowing out? Nice day in Carolina, about 75 degrees. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif Bob
 
A bit high but not alarming. Possible voltage stabiliser defect, or optimistic gauge. Was this after enough time to get the temp to "normal"? Best way to be certain would be to put a "hard gauge" on it and check it against the instrument on the dash.

80 PSI isn't unusual at 4~4.5K RPM when less than operating temp. Usually 65~75 PSI at temp with 3200 and up RPM.

Now that you mention it it was only about a two mile ride ,probably wasn't up to temp. Thanks Bob
 
The ~other~ part of the pressure relief valve substitution is: the old one will virtually jump out... putting the replacement back in with the engine in-situ is an exercise in ABSOLUTE terror. There's no good way to easily compress the spring to start the threaded "cap". Nothing to use as leverage, no way to push against it and turn it at the same time. It's akin to herding cats... really. I would HIGHLY recommend against trying it with the engine in the car.

Don't ask why I *know* this. Just trust me on this one.

Yep..........Mine kept me busy for awhile.

Sometimes I like to turn the knob & watch the oil pressure go up and down. (just because I can) Then I lock it in the original position. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
