Hey everyone!

I noticed the oil pan gasket on my car was leaking and def want to replace it...anyone out there know if it's possible to do from under the car?

Much easier than trying to do it from above the car. :wink:

Thanks...just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to have to pull/jack the engine to get to it!
 
Yes, it is easy to do from underneath - did it about a month ago. Just note that not every bolt is the same length. seal well and tighten a little more after 24 hours.
 
I use pure ultra black RTV and no gasket. Works great. Fill the front screw hole with it (1500)
 
And the torque on those pan bolts is only supposed to be 6 lbs. I tried to do from underneath and my DPO has that sucker glued on. Despite repeated strikes from BF Rubber Hammer it stayed firmly glued on. Decided yep it leak 5 drops every time Bugsy stops. Cardboard is cheap, I put bolts back on and left well enough alone. 8 years later, still 5 drops wherever I stop and cardboard is still cheaper than screwing something else up..

Probably 3M 8001 or 3031. Mean stuff Maynard !!!
 
5 drops is not a leak thats just the oil level indicator telling all is good. :thumbsup: Agatha is the exception to the rule :laugh:
 
kellys guy: Is the 3M stuff the stuff that looks like liquid nails? My DPO used something like that on the timing cover gasket and the only way I could get it off was to split the gasket. Did'nt reuse those parts cause I don't want to clean them. Unfortunatly it looks like he used the same stuff under the windshield and I would like to redo the body. I am afraid I won't get it off without doing major damage.
