Oil Leak

kellysguy said:
but the tranny has a new leak. Like I said before, don't be suprised if you see everything leaking.

When I first got mine on the road, everything leaked that could leak - rad, diff, tranny engine. Have most stopped. BTW with the transmission, a bolt had fallen out over the years. After that just a trickle fixed by Lucas transmission fix. (and barsleak in the rad)

That stuff scares me.

Goes in just about all new cars

Funny,
Spotting or a constant streak...

Hansel and grettle bread crumbs or a gunpowder trail.

If it looks like a gunpowder trail take the hint...

...and what, light it???? :eeek:

I know a guy who had a '66 Mustang w/ a gas leak and set it on fire while cutting the exhast off with a torch. He then tried to put out the six foot tall flames by beating the car with a new window regulator that was still in the cardboard packing. We still joke about it and that was 25 years ago.

We almost burnt his dad's barn down that day too.

is the a correlation with regard to revving/idling - just wondering if it is coming out under pressure rather than dripping.

If so, I'd be more inclined to think pressure oil line than oil pan.

BTW oil pressure lines are unobtanium so far as I can tell. but, a hydraulic place can make you a new one - it's on my To Do list

No, you can get them at Advance, They are plastic. You'll have to have the right fittings, usually in the kit.

There's that: "How th' HECK?!?" moment!

Just read thru this post for the first time...

Glad ya found the problem, Michael. Stick around.

What part of VA are ya in? I lived out on Buckroe Beach for a few years. Loved it.

Oh the Buckroe Beach park. Lived in a trailer where we could hear it in the summer, no A/C. What a fun place to live for a couple of kids, wife and I of course with the boy now 48, hehe.

Thanks, Mike, for the info. Also, the other poster who listed all the places to check.

I just purchased a 74 Midget, 2 days ago. Every 100 miles used one quart of oil from an oil leak. Now I have an idea on what to check.

Noticed mine didn't leak in Peter Braen's driveway today. I think I might be out of oil.

How did I possibly ever miss this thread, oh well, I guess that might have been a good thing
