I put a few miles on the BE today. Up to about 17 now. I have an oil leak somewhere near the front of the engine thats spraying or being blown back by the fan. It almost looks like its coming from the head gasket near the front of the head.

I have a 1275 but I'll check the timing cover. I'm sure that its sealed though. I put rtv on both gasket faces. It really looks like its coming from between the block and head at the engine id plate. There werent any copper washers/seals or o rings that went on with the head were there? I only have a head gasket.

No just the head gakset between the head and block, there's only one oil feed from the block to the head for the rocker arms, so I doubt it's coming fromm the head gasket, if you're seeing oil on the ground from the front of the engine, look at a couple of places, the bottom of the timing cover, the timing cover seal, and the front of the oil pan where cork or prefered rubber piece goes in the oil pan.
 
I'm seeing more oil up top being blown back by the fan and wind while driving. Its all on the passenger side. I had a valve cover gasket problem after the show last weekend but re gluing the seal to the cover seems to have fixed that.

I'll keep looking.

Just to make double darn sure, retorque the head.
 
I have the same leak. About 2" back from the front of the engine. It's coming from between the head and block. There is an oil passage right there and the head gasket has a compression ring at the oil passage.
I have replaced gaskets and finally went to a fancy race type expensive head gasket. Well the leak stopped at the head but it moved to the timing cover. Fixed it there and it came back at the head. So 5 years later, I just live with the leak.
I just can't stop it. I can move it but not stop it.
 
Mine IS coming from under the head, on top of the block.
Squeezing out from the head/block.
But the comp head gasket from Peter at World Wide Auto Parts solved (moved) my leak.
It was leak free (from the head) for about 2 years, then this spring I blew the head gasket and just used what I had on the shelf. I need to get another comp gasket and replace it before I drive 1800 miles to Missouri.
