Hi. I'm a new member from Wales in the UK. I have a 1958 100/6 which has developed an oil leak (quelle suprise!!!) from the speedo cable join to the gear box. It's fairly significant, and oil is making it's way up the cable and then dripping out onto my leg as I drive. It's worse on longer journeys and obviously it seeps out from the gearbox onto the garage floor when it's standing. Anyone have any experience of this, and is it worth replacing the whole unit or is there an oil seal that can be replaced? any sugestions would be greatly appreciated, as I'm new to healey's. A couple of my friends had pretty much the same thing happen to them several years ago. It ended up being the transmission to speedo cable "L" gear drive(that's the part that attaches to the speedo cable end and connects to the trans). I think one of them said the part in the trans that connects to the "L" gear speedo gear drive had a seal too that needed replaced. I believe this seal has an "O-ring".modger said:

If you have not got one yet, get a parts catalogue from SC Parts, well worth the money as they show blow ups of all aspects of the cars, great for seeing how things fit together and of course, you can refer to them when ordering spares as well !
AH spares have them as well and theirs is priced but the piccys are not so good.
A new angle drive, if required, is going to set you back ÂŁ48.82 + vat from SC parts.
