Oil For My XJS

Have a 1994 XJS, 4.0L, 2+2, convertible, auto. Don't have any user or maintenance manuals. Need to change oil in transmission and differential(limited slip). What are specs for both? Are there off-the-shelf products or do they come from Jaguar? How many quarts et.? Have heard horror stories about some transmission oil costing $60+/quart.

Nearly nine quarts of 20-50 wt. for the 94 4.0. I prefer Castrol GTX. Trans uses normal ATF. The later cars had the sealed trans and used liquid unobtainium.
 
With non-roller cams, make certain you have some zinc.
I use Kendall 20W-50 SL.
SL and lower has some zinc, SM and higher has none.

Not sure on castor-bean oil.
 
Normal ATF? Normal for GM, or Normal for Ford, or Normal for Mopar?

Reason why, is that there are three basic ATF formulations that most people consider normal. Yet, they are not interchangeable. Recommend you hit up one of the lubricant company websites(Valvoline, Pennzoil, etc.). As they should tell you what ATF to use...
 
I tried the Valvoline and Castrol web sites but they only spec motor oil for the XJS. The reference to "normal ATF" needs to be more specific. Possibly Ford ATF? I was hoping someone would have an XJS owner's or service manual that had the actual manufacturer's recommendation of transmission and differential oil/fluid.
 
Thanks for the info and spec sheet for the transmission oil. Any ideas on the rear differential oil? '94 XJS, 4.0L, 2+2. I understand it is a limited slip differential.
 
GL5 80-90W plus 1 bottle (blue)of Ford Limited Slip modifier. Do not use the (pink) over the auto parts modifier, you will feel a clatter or slip , the Ford is best. You may use a synthetic GL5 substitute, but still use the modifier.
