Oil for 1275 ribbed case tranny???

Hi All,

I am just getting ready to install a rebuild 1275 ribbed case tranny into my Sprite. Quantum Mechanics suggest using 90-wt hypoid transmission gear oil. I think I have also seen 30-wt or 40-wt non-detergent motor oil recommended.

Does anyone have any suggestions or firsthand experiences to share?

THE "book" says to use the same thing you have in your crankcase, and what goes into your crankcase is dependent upon ambient temperature. 10-40 in the cold, 20-50 in the warm.
