Oil Cooler Hoses - Routing and supporting

As part of the Bugeye Bonnet installation on my '68 Sprite I need to reposition and reroute hoses for the oil cooler. I've removed the old oil cooler bracket from the front valence and it fits right betweeen the uprights below the radiator with an extra washer or two. Does not appear as if there will be any clearance issues there.

My concern is there are no extra support brackets for the oil cooler hoses. What are folks using to attach and support the oil cooler lines. Anyone got a good picture of what they have used. Right now there is more than 3' of unsupported oil cooler hoses that looks like trouble waiting to happen.

Plastic wire ties? Like the handcuff ones.

Clips of the right size from Auto whatever like the ones under the bonnet already.

Aircraft clips for the really cool look. They are alum with a rubber sleave kinda on them.

That might work, just need something to support and hold the hoses. 3 feet of unsupported hose is too much to ask not to break / start leaking. I rerouted hoses underneath the brace that goes from inner fender to side of radiator support. I'll get that one figured out. Need to go poking around at Auto Parts store or Lowes to find something I can modify.

If you look at how a Midget that came with a cooler is mounted, it has a neat rubber bracked that mounts on the right front firewall.

Both hoses go through it seperately and it had a screw that goes through the middle and attached is to the wall. It is mounted just below the bonnet bump stop on the top of the wheel arch.

I looked at the usually cast of character's web sites but couldn't find it being sold. This is what I am using and am very happy with it.

Look at the top left of the picture, it is the best shot that I can provide right now.

Pat,

On Bugsy my '68 Oil Cooler mounts to the front of the valence horizontally rather than the way you have your's mounted. The hoses originally went through a hole in the valence but there was no nice neat rubber washer / grommet to keep hoses from chafing. Now the hoses run unsupported to the oil filter adapter. Are you using anything to support those hoses?

On my '63 Midget, the oil cooler is also horizontal in front of the radiator - right now, the hoses go through the big hole where the heater air duct would be were there one; as I put a heater air duct back in the car, I'm gonna move the oil cooler hoses & drill 2 holes through the "radiator support" & use the same rubber grommets that are on an MGB to keep the hoses from chaffing against the metal.....from there to the points where the hoses attach to the air filter & rear of the engine, I'm only gonna use a Moss #235-988 (hose strap assembly) - that's all that MGB's use anyway - the grommets & the strap assembly are adequate support.

Nope just at the top of the firewall. They are very snug bak there and the one support seems adequate for the length that I am running.

A pice of electrical conduit strap just might be the ticket to support those hoses. Time for a Lowes Trip to peruse the electrical cunduit aisle.

Interestingly, Jim, that's exactly what my PO did!

So did you come up with anything better?

Yep - did you see my post farther up this thread?
