Oil cap / ignition

I was tooling down the freeway last night when Gidget my 58 Sprite started to sputter and cough losing power intermittently . I started to pull to the side of the road and she starting running fine again for a couple of miles so I continued on. After a mile or so the sputtering became bad again and I pulled to the shoulder of the road and she came to a stop and would not start. A couple of misfires but no go.

popped the bonnet and saw that the oil fill cap had come lose and was resting against one of the plug wires. Any idea what may have happened such as shorting or worse yet frying something in my ignition system?

HELP!!!!

You made a blog post to ask your question. Your blog is a place where you can post about your every day activities, or about things like your recent vacation, your car restoration, etc. It's not the best place to ask specific technical questions. You would be much better off to ask this question in our Spridget Forum. Click on the "Forum" button above, then enter the "Spridget Forum" and post a new topic in there. You will be much more likely to get a reply to your Sprite-related question in the forums than in the blogs.
