You know the one. That loud crashing you here from the comfort of your own home when some guy runs into your car… no both of your…no make that all three of your cars parked in front of you house.

So here’s the story. Guys driving down or street in his week old to him 2000 Dodge Dakota when he gets distracted, so he says. He side swipes the front of my Geo Tracker parked on one side of my driveway. He continues on and rear ends the Left corner of our Ford Escape which carries his Dodge and our Ford into the back of… our midget. The tracker has Left front fender and wheel/alignment damage. Ford has major rear body damage to the Left rear corner. The Midget came out pretty good. It looks like the Ford’s bumper hit it square on the rear license plate and pushed it forward about five feet. We didn’t notice it until after the Police left and I saw the skid mark from it being pushed. It hit it hard enough that there was a couple foot gap between the Midget and the Ford when every thing came to rest. Damage looks to be minor so far. The rear panel has two dents where to license plate bracket mounts. It pushed the panel in far enough that the trunk lid handle hits the license plate when you try to open it. I will find a MG knowable shop and have them look at it a little closer. Luckily the kid has full coverage and wasn’t hurt.

That sucks! Luckily no real damage to the Midget. I have been hit while parked in front of my house 3 didfferent times in 3 different cars, so I can empathise.

This actually the second time for the Tracker. It was at a diffrent house about 12 years ago, but it in almost the same exact spot.

I guess the good news is no physical harm and insurance. Still. Anyways, glad you are all safe and that it is only metal.

Accidents seem to happen on your street- I think that I will stay FAR away!
Sorry that it happened!
(to the unknowing- that is the same street that my Sprite got hit at too!)

I guess that is the plus side of living out in the sticks, far from the public hiways. Sorry for you. I know it would have depressed and upset me.
Also I guess you have no choice but to park on the street so that could happen at any time again.

I feel your pain - we've had three different cars hit outside our house. Our Ford Explorer got rear ended by an individual who had consumed just a little too much. Our Plymouth minivan was rearended 2 weeks after coming home from the repair shop by someone who felt it was in their best interest to leave before anyone came to see what the noise was. And the one I felt the worst about: Christmas day, getting ready for dinner. It was snowing outside. Young girl 18-20 or so, slid around the corner and skidded into the side of my company F150 full size van - wiped out the driver side. I felt bad for the young girl, having to make that call to her parents, on Christmas Day no less. Not fun when stuff like that happens.

Gotta look a the good in things. The Geo Tracker and Ford Escape are, well, crap cars. At least the finest of the vehicles was spared.

Normally I would have had the Midget in the garage or at least in the front of the driveway and the Ford behind it. We currently have our motorhome in the driveway so the cars have to be on the street. We use it for tailgating for UW football games. I had planned to have moved the motorhome back to where we store it last week, but the snow hit and I decided to leave it until the snow melted. I was going to move it yesterday afternoon, but Susan's been down with a nasty cold so I decided to put it off another day. Oh well.

This will give you an idea of what I mean. In this shot we are trying to get Bill M's red Sprite drivable after he got hit in an intersection down the street at the first work party in May 2009. He was returning from a parts run when he got hit. No good deed goes unpunished I guess.

Definitely - no good deed ever goes unpunished...
So BillM has been putting a lot of something in the bank!!

Seriously, I'm sorry this happened to you Rich.
Hope it all gets straightened out without too much headache.

Oh I love the pic. No wonder folks are looking all over on your street.

also I might add that is a good collection of Midgets, cann't decide if I like the covertible or hardtop more
Just to put a name to the cars:

The convertable on the street is Bill Loeb's '66 Sprite. The hard top behind it is Phil Jones '71 Midget. Bill M's red '69 Sprite is at the end of the driveway just in front of Ed Perez's '78 Midget. My '76 Midget is in the garage. All are BCF members. Not pictured is Paul Asgeirsson's blue Morris Minor.

Gosh no, sure would not want a Moris Minor in the Pic. For shame.

Watch it Jack! Some of my good friends have Morris'!!
(Shows what kind of friends I have!!)

Just who was this Morris fellow anyhow???

:jester:

Paul's Morris is akin to Peter C's Mini that was allowed to be pictured on the airport tarmac along with all the Spridgets. Sometimes the person who owns is the the important thing.

Here's o shot of ol' Blue. I just don't know where my priorties were.

LoL, any old loved car is a good car.

"Old Blue" was Paul's daily driver for 30+ years. It had a stock 948, with a Datsun 5 speed and a set of 14" wheels that Paul had made up special. It must have had north of 300,000 miles on it. It was finally "used up" and he had replaced it with "New Blue" that, as it turned out was only a few serial numbers removed from Old Blue.
