Oh fudge!!!!!

You've got 4 SU carbs - each with one...& have you checked to see if the one off the ZS will fit?

Oh, never thought of that. I did think of swapping it out with one of Binabox's carbs though. (of course if I'd been on my toes, I'd have done that when dh wasn't around, before he knew I broke it!)

I checked. Didn't take the cap off the dashpot from the ZS because it's full of dashpot oil still, but it looks too big.

Might be...don't remember

Every one of my cars has the original caps, including one car that is now 57 years old, and they are all fine. Ok, the '65 has the cool brass MG caps as of a couple years ago but the originals are still fine. Point is, you should not be able to break it so easily. I would return it and get a new one. In the mean time just borrow one from your extra set.

It wasn't cracked. I broke it. I just got the carbs back today from the rebuilder. I probably overtightened it, not knowing. I just know it wasn't this way when I got them and took the cap off the first time. I put it back on, took it off a couple minutes later and broke it. Plain and simple.

I don't want to wait to return anything and order anything. You know me, lackapatience. I'll borrow from Binabox and replace that one.

Steve's right...I think it was defective...they're pretty strong little things!

Nice sig photo Tony.

huh?

Nevermind, it's back. Red X of death was showing in the box for awhile.

You should be able to put a wrench on it. Not that you should, but you could if you wanted to. Liek Tony says, they are strong. Well, all but one apparently.

Poor Janel. She hasn't evolved into the stage of LBC ownership where she can just walk over to the box containing 74,507 pairs of old SU carbs and take out the correct part.
Be patient, little one. It will happen sooner than you think.
Jeff

Bleagh fudge.

I think we're going to that Chicago swap meet in February and I'm coming home with 74,507 pairs of old SU carbs!

I gotta agree though... I'm still a fledgeling LBC owner myself, but already I have a spare ZS for parts... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

mehheh... Oops. ;}

I have a spare ZS now too. But SU carbs.

ah... well... IMO you have 3 others right there to borrow parts from... there's plenty-o-time to get the replacement parts for Bina while a part is on lone... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
