Yikes! I don't know whether to be happy or worried. I recently got a notification from my provider that BCF was approaching the bandwidth limit for my server!

Luckily, my account just renewed and reset the clock for another month, but I've never gotten a notice since moving to this larger VPS that my BW allotment was about to max out! Guess we're gtting a lot mor traffic these days! One of these days I'm sure I'm going to have to suck it up and get a dedicated server and T1 line /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

That confirms my recent observation. Very slow response time / screen changes over the last weekend. No problems to any other sites throughout the country. I thought perhaps your ISP was throttling down your connection or perhaps lowered your priority on their network. maybe they are trying to " sell " you a business solution with the coresponding higher price !

Was it Sunday eve when we had 99 people on line?

I tried to navigate BCF then & gave up....Much faster now!

I learned that sometimes it may not be this site that is the problem. For example, one time when the site was slow, I called tech support and learned that another site that shared the same server was experiencing a DOS attack, which affected all of the web sites on that server. That might have been what was going on this time also. Another possibility is too many people trying to post at the same time, which loads down the database and can slow things down. The forum configuration allows me to set a "flood" control time so that people would have to wait a set time between posts. However, I've been reluctant to impliment that. We've had more that 99 people on at once with no problems, so I guess it might depend on what those 99 are trying to do at one time.

If this happens again, note the data and time and I'll have my tech supprt look in the logs and see of they can tell what is actually happening.

Yeah, I guess its a good thing, but I really thought the last upgrade was gonna last longer before I ran into the limits. Maybe March was a fluke. We'll see what happens this month (April).

I don't know what was going on Sunday, but I ended up re-booting the system and that seemed to clear it up.
 
Yeah, a couple times I saw the forum's "internals" and decided to let it go for a while.
 
yup... I was browsing the forums too when it happened... I gave up and went to one of my other frequented forums for a while, when I noticed the BCF forums were loading one ....... thread ........ head ........ ing ....... at ....... a ....... time.

A couple of hours later it seemed to be fine and I was content.
