Book came today in the mail. Was like 20 bucks, is like new and is a signed copy even. I did not know that.

Lots to read now.

Maybe I can even answer my own questions, er, some of them. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Jack Great I do not have a signed copy

I promise you that you will have more questions, I have lived with it for 20 some odd years and still have some questions for Dave. APT has been able to answer them when they arise, good reading enjoy.

Enjoy, Patrick

Pat, where do you get the numbers for the different cylinder heads?

It is casted in the top under the valve cover. Or if you are looking at Dave's book it is Chap 9 in the beginning of the one I have.

Clarify on the head, sorry, heading back to work

Got it, was looking for an apendex.

I TOLD you that book doesn't have an appendix!

My guess is that the book was done on a strict budget and competent appendix editors cost $$$!

Still a great read...

Great read indeed. I have learned so much that I will never need. But wow, when I do I have a source.

So far I have found the chapter on intake manifolds very very eye opening. Why a few min with a hand grinder will give you a bit of a HP gain.

Wow, can't wait to build one useing all this good stuff.

I knew you would like Vizard, the good thing about the book is it's a great reference book, you'll go back and grab it just to read up on something. His history of the different parts and formulas are invaluable. He also a very good instructor and explainer, for instance his description on degreeing cam was by far the easiest one for me to understand when I was learning. The book is somewhat dated especailly regarding racing but most of the information is timeless. He also wrote a Chevy book as well and is as well thought of amoungst those guys as the LCB crowd.

Jack:

If you do not care about apperance it is more beneficial to replace the intake manifold (and relatively cheap about $170). The cross tube between the two is to large and hinders the performance.

Patrick

Of course Pat. When I get to the point of a real 1297 next year I will without question be looking for all the good parts and will solisit you racer guys advise.

Hap, I am finding it very readable and fun. You are/were very correct, I like it. Your advice and assistance will also be needed I am sure.

Well one bridge at a time, wonder if Miss Agatha will fire when I finaly pull the go button. You always wonder, or I do.

Jack we got get you to start saying 1275 instead of 1297 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
