T minus 2 days and counting - I've poked, prodded, cursed, and nudged the 3A into the best shape I can get it. About to hit the road on Saturday with a few like minded friends on what we are calling the 2014 Great Lakes Tour. 14 days, 4000 odd miles, 7 TRs, 7 funny old guys. It should be a hoot, 5 sidescreens and 2 TR6s.

These cars are fun. We'll see if I say the same thing in 2 weeks.

Sounds like a lot of fun....... Good luck and enjoy!

Wow; What a trip!!

It does sound like alot of fun from "The Get-Go".

Hopefully, It`ll be an "Un-Eventful" journey.

Happy Motoring,

Russ

Like I said once before, Katy, Texas, home of the brave!

Don't forget the sunscreen for those in the sidescreens, and take pix!

Have a wonderful and safe trip. Look forward to seeing and hearing more about your adventure. Cheers, Mike

I live in Traverse City MI. ( between I and H , or about halfway) . Put me down as an "oasis". You would be more than welcome if you need spares, tools, or mechanical work in my shop. TR3 parts from spare tune up stuff to a complete TR4a engine. Just call Moss and have parts drop shipped to me if you like.

Nice randy. Have a great trip and drive safe!

Cheers

Have a great trip Randy, it's to bad you won't be getting into NE Ohio I could give you some fantastic seafood places to eat at. Also some nice wineries, and cruising roads along the lake. I do miss living next to Lake Erie. Have a safe, and trouble free trip.

Randy,

It looks as though the "H" to "I" segment follows I-75 North. From an extremely biased viewpoint, consider exiting 75 at Exit 188 (Standish) and take US 23 North up the "Sunrise Side" of Michigan. Lots of great views of Lake Huron. US 23 pretty much follows the coastline around to its terminus at Mackinaw City (at I-75).

Be safe,

Jerry

Thanks all- I'm pretty excited about this run, I had a great time on a shorter trip to Road Atlanta two years ago. The map is just a shortcut version that I stole from one of my driving pals. The actual route is more scenic with some planned stops and interesting spots along the way. I don't have the final route, but I do think the group passes close to Traverse City on the way up - will definitely take you up on the offer if we need to Kevin!

Despite wanting to see Michigan, I'm actually breaking away from the pack on the south side of Lake Michigan and visiting friends and family in Illinois and Wisconsin for a couple days. Will regroup with the other bunch in Titletown. That's Green Bay for you non-Packer fans..

Now THAT is the way to travel. Did it myself on my coast-to-coast trip last fall.

If you're near Oshkosh, the EAA museum is a great half day visit.

Don obviously you've never had a fresh Perch or Walleye dinner.

FOGs...

Well, someday I might be old enough to be one of those Funny Old Guys. I was tempted to tag along this trip as a Following Odd Guy, but me and the Funny Odd Gal are planning a TR3 trip that starts just as this one ends. -Still, I wish I was going and hope you Freaking Old Guys have a great trip.

I don't see anything odd about a 4,000 mile trip in a TR3... maybe if it were 4,001 it would be odd.

Be safe, have enough fun for all us who wish we were with you.

Yeah, the little jaunt you are planning is probably going to be longer than the one I'm on! Let's see, drive cross country with a lovely young lady as your companion, or hang out with a bunch of funny and occasionally stinky old guys. What the heck are you thinking?
