OK dang it...
How in the heck do you pronounce Oetiker?
My guess is O-Tick-er

OE-tikr?

Looks Dutch - likely Oo -tick -er

Oo like boot

Earliest reference I can find...

1942 Hans Oetiker mechanical workshop in Horgen, Switzerland

[Edit]

Called the US importer and the nice lady said..
"Oh-tik-er...How may I help you?"

So I guess mystery solved...
Unless you want the old world pronounciation.
(I'm satisfied)

Now I'll collect my beer.
Yes there was a beer riding on this.

BTW...The pliers I have for installing them are made by Knipex
in Germany...
Fantastic workmanship and recommended.

But was she imported from the home office or a local hire?

I've known people who couldn't properly pronounce the name of the American company they worked for, let a lone some ferrin one.

Swiss accents can vary considerably from German, which of course also vary from place to place. But this is how we were taught to say it in school.

pc.

I once had a lady call me from Toyota to ask me about my "Sky-on" XB. Hmmmm.. wonder if she was farmed out? Guess I'd throw her for a loop asking her about Oetiker clamps for the CV boots on my Scion huh?
It's a silent "C" m'dear
