TR2/3/3A Odd looking modified TR3 on Craigslist...saint luis obismo

Aggh, my EYES!!

cannot-be-unseen.jpg

That's a bad gene experiment between a Dart and a 3

The Daimler SP250 was ugly enough why would you make your TR3 look like one.

Watch it Keith, know a guy in Baltimore who might fly out to AZ and smack you one.

Funny, I was just in SLO last weekend, at the British restoration shop on Higuera, and they had a Daimler Dart 250 and a TR3, and a beautiful Italia!

Those taillights on that poor TR3 look like those from a '58 Chevy ...

The '58 Chevy tail lights turned vertically are a nice touch!

Daimler SP 250 are built on a modified TR-3 frame, including suspension, but with a HEMI V-8 and a transmission that looks allot like a Triumph.
Yes it is odd looking, but a very unique car, Fiberglass body, as light in weight as a TR-3 but with more power. Cars were orphaned and not wanted because of their looks, but many of these cars were destroyed and very few remain. 145 horse power motor, very fast little car, now highly sought after and expensive when you can find one to buy, there is thought to be less than 500 still left in the USA.
I was lucky to have found one and am restoring it right now. Bill Close, Mesa, Az. (Mallard : I hope we are still friends? I didn't know you didn't like my car)

Here's a shot from Wikipedia

I stopped at a gas station to fill up my 3 a couple of months and a guy came out of the diner to look at my car. He told me has two SP250's "in progress". I go back to the same station hoping to meet up with him again...but so far to no avail.

The Daimler would most likely qualify as an acquired taste. I must confess it's growing on me. The one above looks good in green...

...Though I'll probably never own one - two "children" are all I can handle!

Old saying: "give an Englishman a piece of sheet metal and he's sure to do something stupid with it" - and ugly too. Fairthorpe Electron, anybody?
