OD Troubleshooting and adjustment

1960 BT7 Sideshift.
Never had OD working.
The Solonoid and lockout switch on tranny are original.
The throttle switch is new.
The relay on firewall is original.

What is the tests / sequence to narrow the non operating OD? I believe the lockout switch and throttle switch are OK. I was about to order all three parts (I suspect the solonoid is froze) but thought I should run any simple tests first.

After I renew the parts and get this thing working, what adjustments if any are required? Any on the solonoid?

What does a properly working overdrive act like?

Here are some articles about the overdrive:

Some of Jim's links don't work, but there is still good stuff there. The tem net links are the ones that don't work on jims' site.

I'll bet this covers 99% of what you're looking for. I know it helped me!

One other comment; Don't use synthetic oil for the OD! It is too slippery for the friction system that locks the planetary system.
