Well after 4 more weeks of waiting on my uprated Kevlar clutch disc, my transmission and clutch disc will arrive today. Looks like its at the Charlotte facility and both will be out for delivery today! So taking the rest of the week off and put my TR6 Back together, Still waiting on my New Aluminum radiator and SS piping to fabricate my exhaust system, really just from the header to the Y pipe of my rear mufflers. I also am adding a SS resonator up front to tone the exhaust down.

well time to Vent,
got the transmission and engine bolted together, no big deal. put the engine and transmission in back in the car, and yes I have pics but cant resize them since I now have windows 7, but thats another issue, my fork lift died so had to buy an engine hoist. now guess what the front bumper had to come off, well dropped the engine in and bolted the mounts up now all is good,(I think they built a car around the engine) and now the tedious stuff begins. Wired up the OD switches, seems at first the OD worked but then I checked and it worked in gear and in Neutral in first and reverses, so checked the wires, and got that straightened out, hooked up the alternator, now I have the ford Fiesta alternator and seem I have a small gauge brown wire that I cannot figure where it goes. Next, I purchased a now poly transmission cover, and of course the holes dont line up so I have to enlarge them, and its seems to be about 1/8 to 1/4 inch too long. so got to tweek it, and now the big issue, since I now have an OD the angled spedo mechanism hits the transmission tunnel, After market parts suck, seems I am always making them work, so I am thinking I will get my propane torch, gradually heat up the area where the angle drive hits, soften it up and streach it to make that area bigger.

The small brown will go to the separate terminal on the back of the alternator, if it has one. Some don't have it, so just tie back and insulate the wire (in case the next one does).

On the original covers, I believe there was a hole cut over the angle drive, and a small metal plate over the hole (which gives just a bit more clearance because of the thickness of the cover).
 
The angle drive for the speedo is a very tight fit on my car also. I have the black poly trans cover on mine. I'm not sure if the original covers would have the same tight fit. The last thing you want to do is get any kink in the cable or the speedo will bounce. Sounds like a good idea to heat the cover and stretch the area out. Let us know if it works.

I agree with you about the quality of some of the parts. At least we have something that we can work with. It would be a real pain to have to make are own parts.

With overdrive, the TR4A and TR6 transmission tunnel covers came with metal cover plates on both sides of the tunnel for access and the one on the passenger side also had a bulge to accomodate the angled speedometer drive.

Scott thanks for that information. Does anybody got a used one for sale? The part is NA at both TRF and Moss.
 
thanks for the information on the Alternator, thats where I was going to plug the wire but didnt want to fry the alternator, since I burned a hole in my radiator trying to add a bung for my temperature sensor for the electric fan, and I had to purchase a new aluminum one,(well maybe I did it on purpose) hehe, I think I got the transmission cover streached ( how come that word doesnt look right) and cut about 1/8 off each end and will use my dremmil tool to elongate the bolt holes today, then the carpet and seats go back in and the nightmare radio wiring.

Nice valve cover, I think they are the best aftermarket ones you can get. I few years back I tried to get one at auction but was always outbid at the last second. The same guy had three of them he would auction. I forget what the letters on the top were but I'm thinking SAH.
 
OK, Keith. Missed something. Where did you get that NICE valve cover??
 
Don I wish I had one. The one in the picture is on Hondo's car. I don't think you can get one anywhere now unless you find a used one for sale.
 
yep SAH, it came with the car, It suppose to be some guy that was into racing TR6 but I cannot remember what the letters stand for

well maybe by the weekend I will be ready to crank her up, got most of the interior back in and heating up the poly tranny cover and expanding it helped get the thing past the angle drive, and also by cutting 1/8 inch off the front and back and elongating the hole helped a whole lot
