When I drain my overdrive and tranny is it necessary to remove both drain plugs? Or should the answer be obvious? I'm just changing the oil.

Yes, you should remove both plugs.

The O/D plug should have a mesh filter and a couple 'soft' round magnets. You want to clean the filter and magnets when you change the oil.

I have Champion 30# non-detergent motor oil. Will that work?

I don't know anything about about Champion oils, but if its a good quality 30W non-detergent oil it should be fine.

Go with a 30 wt. non-detergent oil and you'll be fine.
