Post-War Other OD Switch - 1952 Renown

Hello Triumphites,

Hopefully, you can shed some clarification on a problem that we have. First, we have a Renown. The suffix (DLO) on the Commission Number indicates that it is an overdrive car. The transmission is an overdrive tranny, but we don't know if it works. Also, there is no indication of an OD switch anywhere.

Looking at the original Laycock manual for the Renown/TR2 installation, it indicates that the switch used on the Renown is the egg-shaped switch used on the later TR2s, 3s, 3As and 3Bs. The photo in the manual shows the switch installed on the steering column opposite of the gear shifter. (The photo actually shows a Vanguard dash and steering wheel.)

So, here is our question: WHAT IS THE PROPER LOCATION FOR THE OD SWITCH ON THE RENOWN?

Thanks in advance; I am told that you guys are "undefeated" with your Triumph assistance.

I hope that you are getting in some good summer driving - we are in a heat wave/drought here in Texas.

Sorry, I found references in the Laycock overdrive documentation stating that it was on the column but could not find any pictures or any other real references.

"the operating switch in the case of the Vanguard and Triumph Renown is situated on the steering column, but on the TR2, this switch is placed on the instrument panel."

I did find this Renown for sale which claims to have overdrive and at least one picture of the steering column/dash. Hopefully you know what to look for.
