OD Questions

As I was scrounging around for parts to start my rebuild this winter I ran across an OD out of a 77 MGB. The man who currently owns the OD wants $600 for it untried.

Question 1: Is this a good price for an untried OD?

Question 2: How could I check this OD to see if it might be worth buying?

If you could get a good look at the gears and syncros and then pull the filter for the od you can get a decent idea of what condition it's in.

I'm a cheap old SOB, but that sounds high for something untried and unproven. But, it will be a good deal if you can install it and it works. Best $600 you will spend.

I bought a $250 Spitfire parts car just to get the OD trans. It has perfomed fine.
