O Tony!

It started here with John-Peter telling me about the craigslist ad he'd seen...so, I'll finish it here:

So, its 8:36pm & I'm sitting in the Phoenix airport waiting for the red-eye flight home...& had a great Mexican dinner at a local favorite restaurant.

Now to the car:

Absolutely no rust!

Couldn't find any body filler....somebody sprayed some type of white paint over all the body imperfections then put the windows back in - with NEW rubber!

We went over it top to bottom out in the dusty Arizona desert....he tossed in a perfect hood, trunk lid & front valance & is going to see if he has a better RF fender (though its not as bad in person as it is in the photos).

Looks like somebody ran out of interest or money....frame is straight & clean...appears to have recent high gloss black paint on it & I couldn't find any rust on the frame either...he told me the guy he got it from in California had just sprayed the body to protect it - & now that I've seen it in person, I can believe that...I ran a magnet over every inch of that body & frame - nothing but metal!....the trunk is full with things like a complete extra set of shocks, extra "B" posts & boxes & boxes of parts in the trunk & car itself.

We made a list of all the things I want to make sure are with the car....did I say that all the glass is in excellent condition...worst pieces I found were the door handles (I just bought a pair off ebay) & the oval 1500 emblems on the front sides of the tub...& he's going to make sure everything I put on my list is there (he said he wasn't even going to go through the boxes, if I put it on my list he's gonna put it in the car!).

So, he's delivering it to me on Monday!

congrats! we're all excited (and just a tad bit jealous - but we'll get over it!)

Way to go. Well worth the trip for peice of mind.

I'm home & gonna go take a nap!

Glad you got your ride. I love the coupe, nice looking car indeed.
What's left on the 'to get list'?

MkI Midget factory hardtop

& if I ever figure it all out - an MGF!

If that's the one I called about - it originally came from Michigan & has an engine transplant & some other modifications that make it a "non-MG".

tony, that is one nice looking coupe, great shape to start with!
sounds allot like the roadster in my intro that i got started with way back when. got it from my cousin for 600 1975 bucks. it had about 700 dollars worth of new parts in thier boxes yet all stuffed in the trunk and cockpit..... new top, new shocks, brakeparts, u-joints,about the only thing that i really needed to get, beyond sills and rockers, was a new grill and combing pieces. i had a sheet metal shop bend up some sills for me and had to fab up one pillar.
