So the O/D has started slipping in My '65 MKIII. The TSM seems to indicate solenoid out of adjustment or not enough movement to engage. I haven't looked at anything yet but can't find anything in the TSM about adjustment settings. Anybody have any input? Fluid is only 2 years old and at correct level.

Slipping of the O/D is usually due to low oil pressure. This can be caused by very low oil level or a worn or damaged accumulator or its piston/rings. Operating oil pressure is nominally 450 psi. If significantly lower than that, the O/D sliding clutch can be slow to engage or slip. In my case, I began to hear a whirring noise as the overdrive tried to engage. I found a broken accumulator piston ring in the bottom of the bore.
The only adjustment mentioned in the service manual is to line up the hole in the lever arm on the passenger's (LHD) side of the overdrive with the hole in the O/D case. This may not always be good enough. Better is to measure the lifting distance of the metering pin ball when the O/D is engaged to be sure that it is being lifted enough (3/32", as I recall).

The search feature is your friend . Theres a gazillion threads on here about overdrive issues and you need to check the OD pump pressure first and confirm the pump is capable of producing at least 450psi and the filter is clean .
The overdrive is not a complicated box of tricks .
Its hydraulic pump with a big ass set of springs a wet clutch and a diverter valve thats about it .
Generate enough hydraulic pump pressure to overcome the spring pressure and if you put the high pressure fluid in the correct place via the diverter valve it engages .

Before replacing any parts, I would check that all of the mechanical connections are correct. You may just need to tighten the lever on the shaft that operates the overdrive valve, or the one at the throttle switch on the firewall. After getting my car back from the 'restorer', I found that in addition to the wiring not being correct, neither lever was tight on its respective shaft, so no OD. Once I went through the system and adjusted everything, it works fine.

Doug Reid--aka 'Mr. FineSpanner'--died a few years ago. His family liquidated his inventory.
O.K. checked solenoid to lever connection , it's good. Checked fluid again after driving the car 10 feet onto the lift and found ! Level actually a little high and 2 bubbles . Now searching the web for what might cause this. Bubbles can'T be good for maintaining PSI.
