NYT Article: Coast to Coast in a Classic Car

Great story. Until he moved to Idaho, endured a nasty divorce and, well, took a different ideological path my BFF and I took a similar trip every year in my BJ8 (though we never went east of Texas). On one trip, we hit Death Valley when it was 115degF in the shade; I was hallucinating as we drove across the dry mud flats and he sprayed me with water from a mister bottle. The last trip was in 2018 when we did just over 5,000 miles and one time we dipped into Mexico and got a nice welcome from the locals:
