NY Times article

Seen it before - loved it then - love it now...&, he's correct: I've owned a number of British cars other than MG's (3 GT6's, a TR6, a couple of Morris Minor's, a Sunbeam Alpine, and a few Jaguars to name some of them) but I always come back to MG's as the definitive British sportscar for me....& that says it all....for me!

And where that guy writing about what makes a British Car Special?

Hidding in another forum?

And that’s rolling on in fourth gear and the exhaust note comes up a bit. That’s what it’s all about – having an English sports car.”

Just plain fun... how hard is that to say?

Hard to beat an MGB. They're literally the symbol of an era, made from '62 thru '80 and exported all over the planet. It was relatively easy to obtain an MG dealership franchise then, so there were large numbers of dealers, too.

In the day, practically EVERYONE has one, or knew someone who did. That's why they're popular now, and I think the MGBs popularity will last for a long time into the future. Nice styling, fun to drive, easy to work on, good fuel economy.

Sadly, many of us were wearing polyester then , but as far as the car goes, there's nothing like an MG. Even today, young folk generally know what a B is when they see it.

Not so for most Triumphs and other Brit cars of the period.

Heck, I'm even thinking of going over to the dark (MG) side soon . . . :eeek:

C'mon in Mark! Th' water's fine.

rlwhitetr3b, i was once the proud owner of an mga, loved it, had great fun with it, also had a tr4 a. irs. loved that as well, same as all 4 of my tr6ez, and a gt6, even a couple of 356b's but ive never met one owner of any of these marks that didnt lust over a big healey, :yesnod:

Lookin' mighty hard at MGCGTs right now, with the recession there seem to be an unusual number of nice ones on the market.

When my new garage is done this spring, I might just do it . . .
