Come on out Phil!
We may have to stay an extra hour to fit it in but you will drive home with a 5speed!! (long drive home-)
BillM

Heh - or bring it to Wisconsin in July...
A nice demonstration project in the hotel parking lot??

This is very tempting.
My 1st resevation is I don't want my car laid up for most of the event.
There are flywheel and ringgear mods I want to have done before hand.
I need to source a datsun ringgear and other parts.
I'd want to have my Datsun tranny inspected by someone who knows these things before I do a swap 1500 miles from home.

Bill, If you think it's feasable, and could help facilitate parts and machine work at your end I'm willing to pony up and give it a try.

If you had a 1275 flywheel extra, you can send it to GERARD and he can do the mods anytime. (https://www.gerardsgarage.com/) He has the templates for using the
Datsun clutch ala the Morris Service / Billgaria Motors conversion.

Heck Phil, IRRC and I DO, you tore your steering column apart at LoTO in the hopes that someone knew how to put back together again. (having lost your key)

Hello all, would love to join in and see everyone....but I had rotator cuff surgery and it will be a while before I can attempt to shift! Hope everyone had a great holiday!

Don't deprive us of your company. There's no rule that you have to bring a Sprite. You don't even need to bring brownies. Just show up.

Jean, if you can please come - I'd love to see you there!

It would be fun to get together again and see everyone. I always leave feeling like I have learned something and been entertained....and of course I would love to bring something. If not brownies, maybe some cookies? Or since you are going for "Guinness" I have seen a Guinness Chocolate Cake recipe that might fit the bill. With all the stressful work, you all need to keep your strength up. See you then.

Fit Bill??
Which one??

Heh - 300,000 comedians out of work and look who's trying to be funny!!

It will be great to see you again Jean.

:jester:

OK, you opened the door, I was going to say "not only just the bill, but all of the Bills" but I held back...you had to give me the straight line.

Thanks for that!!
I needed a good snicker!

Bump!

Hi all! I'm looking forward to our little spridgetfest. I'd like to ask a favor - could any and all who are planning on attending please email me at philip(dot)s(dot)jones(at)comcast(dot)net? I'll be sending out my address, directions and such near the end of the month; I'm just a little hesitant to put my address on the interwebs in the same post where I've talked about my richly equipped garage. :nonono:
See you all soon!

Phil

Hey! Just sent out an email to those for whom I had emails; and PM'ed everyone else - but neglected to include the start time. Let's say 9:00 AM. That should give us plenty of time to be done around 5:00 or so.

Can't wait to see everyone!

Phil

Whew! It's all over . . . I had a great time! Let's see how many of the attendees I can remember:
Bill Masquelier
Bill Loeb
Rich Ball
Mike Burkhart
Dave Riker
Rick Bastedo (plus three people and a toyota)
Chris Karcher
Jean Smith and Alex
Jim Pauley
Tom Jones
. . . plus, I think, a few more.

Things started promptly at 9:00 AM, with doughnuts, work on Rick's daughter's Toyota (suspension repair), and starting on Rick's Datsun-powered Midget (converting to a Datsun 5-speed). After the Toyota was finished and gone, Bill Loeb's Sprite's rear brakes were also worked on. Also in process was completion of the pumpkin swap on Tom's AH 100. Everything went well and was finished by 5:00 PM, including cleanup. AND, everyone's car left under it's own power. Bill Loeb even sweet-talked Autosport in Seattle into opening, so he could by a new brake adjustment wedge to replace the one (of the finest British manufacture) that had fallen off his car. I'll bet his rear brakes work better now!
Lunch was brats/italian sausage, baked beans (Bill L), potato salad (Rich B), smoked salmon (Rick B), and Irish Car Bomb cupcakes (Jean S). It was delicious! Plus we had lots of snacks afterwards. Weather was fun - we had sun, fierce winds, driving rain, drizzle, clouds, rain and more rain. Did I mention rain? Fortunately we had room for everyone to work inside.
Dave Riker drove over Snoqualmie Pass (all the way from Wenatchee!) to join us - it was great to put a face to the name!
Thanks to everyone who came over. Next time, do me a favor and drink more coffee and beer.

I think pictures will be forthcoming. Now I'm tired, but happy!

I was upset I couldn't be there. Couldn't get my insurance completed and no top/rain stopped me. Hopefully next time.
Kevin

my brakes DO work better... It may be the first time that all four corners of the car have working brakes since I've owned it.. the pedal IS much stiffer and I have an E-Brake. Thanks to Dave Riker!!! Good times were had by all, I believe and Bill M. was again a prime mover. Pics to follow after I get home tomorrow. (I'm still up in Fife with my lady and won't get home till Sunday afternoon.) Special THANKS to Phil for the use of his facilities, tools and hosting abilities.

I too was quite bummed that I didn't get to attend. A gnarly cold kept me indoors all day. With my voice gone and no chance of doing anything in my garage, I was fortunate to have a stack of Spridget-related books show up via FedEx. I did a lot of reading.
