NW Organization of Spridget Handymen in Transit 3

Spring is here for most of us and that means it is time for a meeting of the Northwest Organization of Spridget Handymen In Transit.

We will meet on Saturday May 15th at Phil Jones house in North Seattle. Phil has a nice dedicated, well equipped, two MG garage and ample work space. Currently we have two major projects scheduled. We will be replacing rear bushings and leaf springs in Bill L '66 Sprite, and swapping in a Datsun 5 speed and a rear hub on Ed's 1275 equipped '78 Midget. There will be plenty of help available for other projects that need to be done on any car there. What do you want help with?

If you have something on your car that needs attention, or you would like to just join in and lend a hand let me know, and get your parts ordered. The more the merrier.

I don't know if it's realistic to even attempt in an afteroon, but I've got a shiny, new wiring harness begging to be installed...

...if I can overcome my fear of driving the BE more than 15 miles from home! Ha! Otherwise, I'll be there to dispense tools and drinks or other tasks that my ham-hands can't possible defile.

Sounds great guys!!
I can bring a few tools and help out where ever needed.
I'm fairly good at remembering to slide something (cardboard?) under the car to help in finding those little bits that fall off while you're working.
If I can bring the red Sprite then it would be cool if someone could help me hook up a couple gauges on my dash... Just little stuff.

Rats! I am out of town that weekend...but I think I am going to make it on the 8th. SilentUnicorn, I am sure if you got your car out here these guys would get it taken care of.

Feeling squishy again but no loss of fluid!!

I will need to tow mine since I need to load up the truck with tools and parts. It's approximately 18 miles to Phil's house. I'm not confident towing it on the freeway with the bad wheel bearing. It vibrates pretty bad with the drive-train in neutral. Usually around 45+ mph. I'll take one of the main arterial routes down and go a little slower. Should I pull the drive-shaft? Any other thoughts on towing it?

Sounds like you have air in the system. Get phil to let you use his Eazibleed set up. The thing works great.

BillM and I bled it all out not too long ago, we had that really cold freeze and apparently I had water in the fluid. It turned to ice and out went the fluid.
Now the fluid is staying in the reservoir but the brakes fade, you could be right about the air but I would be worried about where it's getting in considering that like I said it was recently bled, all the fluid replaced and brakes were great after.

Rich Ball is supposed to be sending the release lever for the hood with someone.. I hope. I got my shipment of nuts, bolts and bushings from Peter C. today, and have been soaking everything in Aerokroil since before my trip. This is going to be a GAS! AGAIN.

That first one is a "Fleet" trainer made by Consolidated of San Diego (eventually to merge with Vultee to become Convair). The Ruben Fleet Space Museum in San Diego is named for the company.

The third gathering of the Northwest Organization of Spridget Handymen In Transit is happening this Saturday, May 15th. If you are in the area and would like to join us, Please let us know.

There is quite a list of things to do from a 5 speed swap, a rear bushing replacement, to the obligatory LBC electrical and brake issues.
